Chinch bugs causing trouble in local lawns

SHREVEPORT, La. – Homeowners across the area are seeing unusual brown spots spreading through their lawns, and experts say tiny insects could be to blame.

Mark Wilson with the LSU AgCenter says chinch bugs are becoming a common problem this fall.

“They’re small, black insects that are almost always present in our yards,” Wilson explained. “We don’t usually notice them until it’s too late — when it gets hot and dry, they start feeding and sucking the moisture out of the grass.”…
