A high-speed chase involving Virginia State Police and a Baltimore man came to a crashing halt in Arlington, VA. Rashad Smith, the driver, led the chase after refusing to comply with a VSP trooper’s attempt to pull him over on Interstate 395. The initial encounter escalated rapidly when Smith decided not just to evade, but to actively lead authorities on a pursuit that ended with a collision on South Randolph Street. Fox Baltimore reported that the incident began when Smith was initially spotted by Alexandria Police, and then ensued through several Arlington roads after he left the interstate.
The confrontation grew to involve multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Arlington County and Alexandria police departments, which assisted in apprehending Smith after he tried to quickly escape on foot. According to VSP information, Smith was subsequently caught inside a parking garage.
