Gov. McMaster suspends Williamsburg County treasurer amid 10-count indictment

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster announced Friday that Williamsburg County Treasurer Margaret Kimber W. Cooper was suspended following being named in a 10-count indictment.

In Cooper’s place will be Pearl R. Brown, who will serve until Cooper is acquitted, convicted, or the indictment is otherwise disposed of, or until a new treasurer is elected and qualified for the role, McMaster said in the announcement.
