Thousands join peaceful “No Kings” protests across Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — From the steps of the Guilford County Courthouse to the sidewalks of Wendover Avenue, thousands of people spent their Saturday afternoon taking part in “No Kings” protests across Greensboro.

The demonstrations were part of a nationwide movement calling for fairness, accountability and the protection of democracy. Protesters waved signs, chanted and cheered as passing cars honked in support.

“This is the only country that I’ve got to defend,” said 81-year-old Jim Pitts, who also protested during the civil rights movement in the 1960s. “There’s a continuity here. There’s the spirit of Americans who appreciate the chance to make a better society for everyone.”…
