ROCHESTER, N.Y. — New York State’s legal cannabis market has reached a value of $2 billion, and some of that revenue is returning to local communities. News10NBC’s Declan Stablow reported live from Hope 585’s home base at Lutheran Reformation Church on North Chestnut Street in Rochester.
The state awarded 50 grants to youth service organizations across New York, including Hope 585, which received a $100,000 grant. Dr. Ashley Cross, executive director of Hope 585, said the funds will help those aging out of the foster care system and families involved with child welfare and family court.
“We can prevent more crisis from escalating,” said Cross. “For us it means that we can help families stay together, help children and young people stay home with their families. It also means that we can support every single young person that is aging out of the foster system.”…
