In September, the Laguna Food Pantry provided groceries to more than 5,000 families, helping more than 21,000 individuals facing food insecurity. Compared to August, the number of families and individuals served rose by 4% and 5%, respectively, highlighting the continued demand for grocery assistance in our community.
The Pantry distributed nearly 200,000 pounds of groceries, including fresh produce, dairy, proteins and pantry staples. It cost the Pantry 22% more to buy produce, proteins and dairy than at the same time last year, reflecting the impact of rising food costs on both shoppers and the Pantry.
