Last night at 8:30 PM, an intersection on El Cajon Blvd in the El Cerrito neighborhood became the site of a serious collision between a Tesla Model Y and a Honda Civic. The 35-year-old male Tesla driver was heading east. He attempted a left turn on Dayton St, colliding with the 24-year-old female Honda driver traveling westbound, according to a press release from the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).
The police report states that the Tesla had the green light but failed to yield to the Honda’s right of way. As a result of the impact, the Honda driver was transported to a local hospital with a fractured left femur and a lacerated liver. Officer D. O’Brien, the watch commander overseeing the case, confirmed that DUI is not suspected at this point in the ongoing investigation.
