‘No Kings’ protest draws thousands to line the streets of Toledo Saturday

TOLEDO, Ohio — Thousands of protesters lined Monroe Street in west Toledo on Saturday to participate in the “No Kings” protest, a nationwide movement organizers say is aimed at defending constitutional rights and encouraging civic engagement.

Among the crowd was William Albert, a Vietnam War veteran, who said the protest was a response to what he sees as unprecedented threats to American democracy.

“I’m seeing things in my nation that no one has ever seen before, and no one should,” said Albert. “I’m a veteran, but also an American citizen, and I’m seeing my Constitution being abridged in every which way it can be.”…
