A man who pleaded guilty to the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old in Kansas City, Kansas, earlier this year was sentenced to 25 years in prison this week, according to Wyandotte County District Court records.
Lakevis Sloan, 23, of Kansas City, Kansas, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, aggravated assault and aggravated child endangerment this past May.
The plea agreement allowed the state and Sloan to argue for sentences ranging from 15 to 26 years. Attorneys representing Sloan filed a motion Tuesday asking for a 15-year sentence.
