Greenville Files Lawsuit Over Improper Storage of Hazardous Chemicals on Private Property

GREENVILLE, TX — The City of Greenville has filed a civil lawsuit in Hunt County District Court against the owner of a rural property adjacent to the city after officials discovered numerous improperly stored industrial chemical containers on the site.

The investigation began after citizen reports led city officials, working alongside the Hunt County Homeland Security and Fire Marshal’s Office, to inspect the property. They found multiple containers, some marked with “Hazardous Waste” placards, that were not being stored or handled in compliance with federal or state safety regulations.

“This action is being taken to ensure environmental safety and the continued protection of the public,” said Greenville City Manager Summer Spurlock. “We are committed to enforcing safety protocols, and our response reflects our responsibility to protect the health and well-being of our residents and environment.”…
