Freeport police use surveillance video, K-9 to quickly arrest suspect in Friday shooting

FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — An investigation into a Freeport shooting has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Elgin man as the suspect in the crime.

According to Freeport Police, on Friday, October 17th, officers responded to a gunshot detection system alert in the area of Walnut Avenue and Stephenson Street around 5:36 p.m.

The 33-year-old male victim had been inside a car at the time of the shooting, and suffered a gunshot wound to his arm…
