Driver sentenced to 10 years for fatal Lawrence County crash

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Kan. — An Aurora man was sentenced to a decade in prison for his role in a 2023 DWI-related crash that killed another driver.

According to court records, Jarod Lueders was sentenced Friday, Oct. 17, after being charged in July 2023, with driving while intoxicated resulting in death, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, and failure to wear a seat belt.

Investigators say that on July 6, 2023, Lueders was driving east on U.S. 60 near Lawrence 1160 in Verona, when his Ford Pickup crossed the centerline and struck another pickup head-on. The other driver, Mance Wilkerson, 82, died from his injuries on July 9…
