WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The driver of a Smart car was seriously injured Thursday in a crash in Garden City.
The crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. at Schulman Avenue and Lareu Road, on the west side of the city, according to the Garden City Police Department.
Police said the driver of a westbound Kia Forte ran a red light and hit the Smart car, which was going east and trying to turn north onto Lareu.
Firefighters had to rescue the driver of the Smart car from the vehicle. The driver was taken to St. Catherine Hospital with serious injuries, then flown to Wichita for more treatment.
