SANDOVAL COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — On Friday, KRQE was able to give local students in need a new pair of shoes. Our team visited Algodones Elementary School to give away hundreds of socks and shoes to students. This was all thanks to generous donations as part of our favorite program at News 13, KRQE Cares.

“It’s amazing. You wanna see your students smiling and happy and you know they’re getting a present and it’s almost like Christmas here as they get new shoes and get to put them on and they feel good about themselves,” said Algodones Elementary School Principle Amber Bright. “I mean, I remember when I was a kid and I got those new tennis shoes, those Nikes, and you could run faster and you could jump higher and that’s what the students are getting to experience that today, which is pretty awesome.”
Since 2015, KRQE has put over 32,000 pairs of shoes on children in need…
