Akron Mobilizes Against Childhood Lead Exposure During National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week

The City of Akron is gearing up for National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week with a slate of activities planned from October 20–24 to combat lead exposure, particularly among children. Aimed at raising awareness regarding the sources and health impact of lead and the critical need for testing children and homes, the city has organized several educational events and demonstrations. Parents in Akron can pick up a Lead Safe Akron application from City Hall or download it online anytime during the week.

With a series of outreach initiatives, multiple city departments, including Public Service, Neighborhood Assistance, and Housing & Community Services, are joining forces. Beginning October 20, a presentation at the City Council Chambers is scheduled, followed by demonstrations at the Goodyear Branch Library and various council meetings throughout the week.
