Dayton community honors 5-year-old shooting victim with pink tribute

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) — Students and staff at Dayton Leadership Academy wore pink to honor the memory of Legaci Taylor, a 5-year-old girl who was tragically shot and killed in a Madden Hills shooting last Friday. The school encouraged participants to wear pink shirts and jeans for a $1 donation, with all proceeds going to Legaci’s family. This initiative complements a GoFundMe page launched by Legaci’s mother and siblings, which aims to raise funds for therapy, grief counseling, school and basic needs, and safe housing and support for the family.

Dayton police continue to investigate the shooting, but no updates or suspects have been announced. Sgt. Kyle Thomas, president of the Dayton Fraternal Order of Police, expressed the impact of such tragedies on the community. “It’s devastating.
