The Alabama Cannabis Coalition has endorsed JR Bowling for State Senate in District 4, citing his “courageous and principled stance” on cannabis and hemp. After more than a decade of campaigning for legal access to cannabis in Alabama, the group announced its full support for Bowling’s bid.
“JR Bowling represents the kind of leadership Alabama desperately needs — a leader who listens to the people, respects science, and stands up for personal freedom and the free market,” said H. Marty Schelper, founder of the Alabama Cannabis Coalition and president of Alabama Republicans Against Marijuana Prohibition.
The coalition sharply criticized Bowling’s opponent, State Senator Garlan Gudger Jr., for voting in favor of HB 445 (2025). According to the endorsement statement, Gudger’s support for the bill “dismantled” what Curry called “a federally legal Hemp Industry” and “decimated small businesses, farmers, and consumers across the state.”…
