The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Military and Veteran Success Center is facing severe operational challenges due to the nation’s government shutdown, which went into effect on Oct. 1.
The US government is approaching its third week of being shut down, with Congress showing no signs of coming to a resolution over the dispute on government funding. Because of this, many government employees have been placed on temporary leave, and some services have been paused. However, employees and services deemed ‘essential’ will continue throughout the shutdown, though some employees will not be paid until funding resumes.
