ST. LOUIS – The federal government shutdown continues to drag on and now, families who rely on food assistance could soon face empty cupboards.
The USDA says November SNAP benefits won’t be issued if the shutdown isn’t resolved soon.Inside the Circle of Concern Food Pantry in Valley Park there’s a steady stream of families looking for help. The pantry serves nearly 700 families every month, which is a 7% increase from last year.
