Pair of crashes snarl traffic on I-5 in Olympia, Seattle

SEATTLE — Two separate crashes involving semitrucks caused major backups along Interstate 5 Saturday evening, one in Olympia and another in Seattle.

Washington State Patrol said a jackknifed semi and livestock in the roadway fully blocked northbound I-5 near milepost 103 in Olympia. Troopers were on scene investigating and urged drivers to use alternate routes. Southbound traffic remained open but heavily congested, according to Trooper McKenzie.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said the right lane also remained blocked near U.S. 101 as of 6:18 p.m., warning drivers to expect significant delays in the area…
