‘Deer are erratic:’ Experts urge motorists to stay on high alert due to increased deer activity

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – As the leaves change color and temperatures begin to drop in Upstate NY, officials are reminding state residents of an influx of deer activity in the months leading up to winter.

Donovan Williams of Rochester received a reminder of his own earlier this week while vacationing in the Catskills, when he hit a deer with his car while driving on a back road.

“[I saw] a deer running down the middle of the road, it was so dark and it was so curvy on the road that I didn’t see it in time,” Williams said. “I clipped it pretty good.”…
