Round Table Pizza Closes After 45 Years In La Mesa’s Severin Drive Center

After an incredible 45-year run serving the La Mesa community, the Round Table Pizza location on Severin Drive has permanently closed its doors.

The closure of the longtime franchise at 5999 Severin Drive near Grossmont Hospital comes following the sale of the La Mesa Village Station shopping center, where the restaurant was housed. The 57,911-square-foot property – which spans 5901–5999 Severin Drive – was sold in June 2025 for $21.6 million to the Institute for Effective Education, according to real estate firm Commercial Asset Advisors. The buyer, a local nonprofit educational organization, is expected to repurpose the property for academic use, leading to changes in tenancy across the center.

Round Table Pizza, founded in 1959 in Menlo Park, California, has been a West Coast staple for over six decades, known for its “Pizza Royalty” slogan and signature edge-to-edge toppings, hand-rolled dough, and proprietary three-cheese blend.
