Possible turning point in Del. reassessment controversy

A trial in Court of Chancery will settle a key element of Delaware’s property reassessment process moving forward.

The State of Delaware, New Castle County, and local school districts are being sued by a coalition that represents landlords. The issue is legislation that was passed during an August Special Session of the General Assembly to allow for the setting of different tax rates for residential and non-residential properties.

There have been numerous briefs already filed, and Vice Chancellor Lori Will is scheduled to hear presentations Monday Oct. 20th. The trial is scheduled for one-day, at least as of now…
