Travelers in Colorado Springs should prepare for a series of roadwork operations that will impact traffic flow this week. The Colorado Department of Transportation has announced various closures and lane reductions as part of the Military Access, Mobility & Safety Improvement Program (MAMSIP). On Sunday, Oct. 19, and Monday, Oct. 20, from 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., drivers can expect mobile traffic pacing operations on South Academy Boulevard, accompanied by intermittent ramp closures due to asphalt pavement testing and inspections, according to CDOT.
Adding to the mobility concerns, there will be a closure on the right shoulder of the southbound South Academy Boulevard on-ramp, from Coventry Drive to I-25, for electrical works taking place on Monday, Oct. 20, during the same hours. Additionally, lane reductions on southbound South Academy Boulevard between I-25 and Coventry Drive will persist until Oct. 27 for the traffic signal and island installations.
Further disruptions include a left lane closure on southbound South Academy Boulevard under I-25, with two through lanes open to mitigate the impact on traffic. Conversely, drivers looking to access the northbound on-ramp to I-25 will need to navigate a closure of the left turn lane, urging caution and patience during these changes.
