The Associated General Contractors (AGC ) of Georgia is “building” with excitement in anticipation over their annual Skills Challenge for Northeast Georgia.
On Wednesday, October 22 more than 200 high school students from 22 Northeast Georgia counties will showcase their talents in hands-on construction contests at the 9th Annual AGC Northeast Georgia Skills Challenge. The event is hosted in partnership with Carroll Daniel Construction at the Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center in Gainesville.
The AGC Northeast Georgia Skills Challenge will officially run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and include:
- Students in action – competitors performing, electrical, carpentry, welding, laying brick, using heavy equipment, and more.
- Human-interest stories – more than 400 students will be onsite; ~200 are competing with another 200 observing the day’s competitions and connecting with construction industry professionals to explore future careers.
- Community impact – construction leaders are working hand-in-hand with high school educators to tackle Georgia’s workforce needs while celebrating the incredible skills of local youth.
This Skills Challenge is one of eight regional events held throughout Georgia that will host over 2,000 students from over 100 schools.
