MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – A section of the Huckleberry Trail will be closed beginning November 3 for repairs to bridges and trail infrastructure and is expected to remain closed through February 2026.
According to Montgomery County officials, the closure will extend from Bridge 1 to the Hightop Road area and will not affect the trail entrance at Uptown Christiansburg/Mall. However, officials note that construction will begin approximately one mile from this entrance when heading toward Blacksburg.
The section of the trail noted on the map will be closed to both pedestrians and cyclists for the duration of the project. According to officials, no detour is available due to the nature of the work.
Trail officials say that trail access northbound from Hightop Road toward Blacksburg will remain open. However, they add that Coal Mining Heritage Park will be closed during this time…
