One rescued from vacant house fire on Saratoga Avenue

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester Fire Department responded to a home on Saratoga Avenue for a working fire on Monday afternoon.

Fire crews arrived on scene at 12:09 p.m. to find smoke coming from a 2.5 story home that was boarded up and vacant after reports of a house fire in the area of Saratoga Avenue and Costar Street. A working fire was soon declared upon arrival.

According to officials, firefighters had to remove boards off of the windows and doors in order to enter the home. While the home was reported to be vacant, an individual came out of the second story window onto a porch roof as firefighters addressed the fire. They were rescued through the use of a ground ladder and crews assistance…
