SYRACUSE, N.Y. — After weeks of work, the mural honoring Syracuse great Jim Boeheim is finally complete. An official unveiling was held this morning in Armory Square, featuring the man himself.
We spoke with the guest of honor after his speech to the crowd. He says when he signed his first 4-year contract for the position of head coach, “I was just hoping I could make it to the end.”
Ultimately, Boeheim led the Orange men’s basketball team for over 40 years, winning the NCAA tournament in memorable run in 2003. “You just don’t think that’s going to happen. But I was very lucky– I had great coaches and great players, and the fans– that’s what made it possible too.”…
