Amarillo Fire Department responds to early morning residential fire on SW 13th Ave

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a residential fire on the 1100 block of Southwest 13th Avenue at approximately 7:09 a.m. on Oct. 18.

According to AFD officials, first arriving units reported smoke showing from a single-story wood frame home with occupants safely outside. Officals noted that crews then conducted primary and secondary searches to ensure no one remained inside.

AFD officicals noted that the structure was energized by live electrictiy and Xcel Energy was requested to disconnect power. The fire was brought under control by 8:40 a.m. after approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes on scene.

AFD stated that no injuries to civilans or firefighters were reported and estimated damages include $30,000 in property loss and $5,000 in content loss. The Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause fire which remains under investigation at this time…
