The Travis County Sheriff’s Office has shifted efforts from search to recovery in the case of a missing swimmer in Lake Travis. According to a report obtained by FOX 7 Austin, the 911 call concerning the swimmer came in at about 6:09 p.m. on October 17th. The report described the swimmer as a man in his 40s, and following initial search efforts, the operation transitioned to a recovery mission at roughly 6:59 p.m. the same day.
TCSO’s Lake Patrol, along with multiple agencies, had initially combed the area, searching for the swimmer after the evening fell on October 17, when the search was resumed today. It’s been informed that deputies used sonar to scour a section of the lake varying in depth from 40 to 155 feet, as was noted by Texas We Love. Kristen Dark, the Public Information Officer for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, mentioned the breadth and complexity of the search area.
While recovery missions present unique challenges, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office continues to use every tool at their disposal in order to locate the missing individual.
