Johns Creek residents weigh pros, cons of performing arts center

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Some Johns Creek residents say an 800-seat Performing Arts Center could provide a much-needed home for culture. Others worry it may come with too much financial baggage.

Residents attended an Oct. 16 question-and-answer session hosted by the city to learn more about the project and a $40 million bond that could fund it. On November ballots, city voters will be asked to consider the bond, which would fund the majority of the art center’s potential $50 million construction cost. City staff have budgeted a 10 percent contingency to anticipate fluctuations in costs.
