Shippensburg man with already pending child endangerment charges now hit with more after his child was allegedly found wandering streets alone

SHIPPENSBURG- A Shippensburg man with active charges for neglect of a child has been charged again with similar offenses by Pennsylvania State Police. Darius Ramon Thompson has been charged with felony endangering the welfare of a child by a parent/guardian. He has since been booked into Cumberland County Prison on a $15,000 monetary bail.

On October 20th and around 9:05am, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the 200 block of N Prince Street in Shippensburg Township for a report of a child located that was found walking alone on the sidewalk. That child, PSP say, would be found without shoes on nor clothing suitable for the weather of 50 degrees and raining. Police would determine the child was left unsupervised for at least 15 minutes.

That victim would be found by PSP to be under the care of Darius Thompson, who was woken up by police knocking on his open apartment door. Thompson, PSP say, was asleep and did not know that his child was out. During an interview, PSP say that Thompson told them he had a child proof handle on his front door but the victim must have ripped it off. PSP would look through the apartment, they say, but did not locate the child safety cover anywhere near the front door…
