Madison County High students gain hands-on VR experience with KTECH Academy

GURLEY, Ala. — Students at Madison County High School are stepping into the future with a new hands-on program in virtual reality. For the 2025–2026 school year, the school is offering a two-semester KTECH VR Academy course, giving students practical experience in programming, 3D modeling, and immersive environment design—all while earning college credit.

The program, a partnership between the Madison County School System and KTECH, part of the Kids to Love Foundation in Madison, is designed to prepare students for careers in computer science, virtual reality, and other STEM fields. Through project-based learning, students gain both technical skills and collaborative experience while tackling real-world challenges in the classroom.

Lee Marshall, founder and CEO of Kids to Love, said that the program significantly expands opportunities for students. “This remote program actually triples the reach of our K tech students that we’re able to teach now. This very high demand, highly employable skill set. And the students that are here with us today, this is the first of two semesters. So these students are working now on individual projects. They will be in class through May where they will be working on the individual projects this semester and team projects next semester.”…
