Homewood police set to open downtown substation inside city hall

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WBRC) – The Homewood Police Department is preparing to open a new substation inside city hall, bringing officers closer to the heart of the city’s growing downtown area.

Homewood Mayor Alex Wyatt announced plans this month to transform an unused ground-floor space into a police substation. He says the move is part of a broader effort to increase visibility and accessibility for residents and business owners in the bustling district.

“We felt like there needs to be a presence downtown to provide people with access to the police department in this area. And so I think by doing that, that will provide a way for people to feel like they see the police more regularly and know where to go to address the police when they need to,” Wyatt said…
