Kroger asks customers to pay with exact change due to impacted penny supply

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Kroger is asking customers to pay exact change when using cash due to the U.S. Treasury ending production on pennies.

Notices have been posted at Kroger locations stating the supply of pennies is being impacted due to the stop in production, and said, “If using cash for payment, please consider providing exact change.”

According to a Kroger spokesperson, the Cincinnati-based grocery chain will “continue to assess the impact of the U.S. Treasury’s decision to end penny production. If using cash for payment, we kindly ask customers to consider providing exact change. Kroger will continue to accept pennies for payment.”…
