YWCA Kalamazoo faces cuts as Michigan budget fails to replace federal victim service funds

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — YWCA Kalamazoo is warning of life-threatening consequences after being left out of Michigan’s newly-approved state budget, which failed to replace major losses in the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding.

The cuts, according to YWCA CEO Susan Rosas, could slash essential services by about 20%.
