Man suspected of battering girlfriend yells at her during investigation

A Leesburg man was arrested for allegedly battering his girlfriend and intimidating her into not talking to the police when they came to investigate.

Officers responded to a possible battery at an undisclosed Leesburg residence at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch advised that 33-year-old Jacob William Johnson put a gun to the head of his girlfriend of three years.

Upon arrival, the officers were met at the door by Johnson, his girlfriend and his mother. The three occupants stated everything was alright, but the girlfriend’s facial expression and body language clearly indicated distress. The officers immediately noticed Johnson being verbally aggressive and controlling toward her, talking loudly and insisting that “nothing happened,” the report said.

His behavior seemed to be an attempt to dominate the conversation and minimize any possible talk from his girlfriend and his mother. As such, his girlfriend was separated from him for further investigation. Once apart, she got emotional and stated she needed to leave the residence as soon as possible.
