BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County District Court is shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars after a man they were supposed to be monitoring with a GPS tracker murdered someone.

The settlement ends a civil lawsuit that accused the district court, county commissioners, and the Metropolitan Detention Center of negligence in the 2021 death of 22-year-old Devon Heyborne.
Heyborne was shot and killed by Devin Munford, who was wearing an ankle monitor at the time while awaiting trial for a prior charge of shooting from a vehicle. Munford has since been sentenced to life in prison for Heyborne’s murder…
