Eugene Police link October gun threat to September shooting incident

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene police officers arrested a suspect Saturday afternoon after a man reportedly pointed a gun at another driver at a red light; an encounter that investigators quickly connected to a previous shooting case from September.

At about 2:45 p.m. on October 20, officers were called to East 6th Avenue and High Street after a report that a passenger in a vehicle had aimed a firearm at someone while stopped in traffic. A detective who heard the description recognized both the suspect and the vehicle as matching those from an earlier case involving gunfire at Candlelight Drive and Royal Avenue on September 17.

Patrol officers, guided by the detective’s information, located the vehicle outside a home on Stratford Street later that afternoon. The suspect was taken into custody without incident at 4:26 p.m. Police reported seizing multiple firearms, accessories, and ammunition from the residence as evidence. The suspect’s name and charges will be released after booking at the Lane County Jail…
