LEWISTON, ID – An Oregon man was arrested in Lewiston on Monday following a traffic stop that led to charges of driving under the influence and battery on a peace officer, according to court documents filed in Nez Perce County.
According to an affidavit filed in the case, a 2019 Ford Taurus was stopped around 6:10 p.m. after being observed traveling at an estimated 40 miles per hour over the speed limit on 24th Street N. in Lewiston. The vehicle also was reportedly observed failing to stop and crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic.
The driver, identified as Jeffery R. Spaght, 37, of Salem, Oregon, appeared upset and yelled at the trooper upon contact, the report states.
