Los Angeles, CA – A U.S. Marshal and an individual described as an undocumented immigrant were both injured in a shooting incident Tuesday during an immigration enforcement operation in Los Angeles, according to reports.
Federal agents were reportedly attempting to apprehend an individual in a vehicle, which they had surrounded and boxed in. Sources within U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) indicated that the driver allegedly rammed federal vehicles in an attempt to flee the scene. In response, federal agents discharged their firearms.
One U.S. Marshal sustained an injury to his hand, initially believed to be from a bullet ricochet.
The undocumented immigrant was struck in the elbow. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries.
