New budgeting initiative empowers Hendersonville residents to help shape city’s future

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Hendersonville is giving residents a direct say in how part of the city budget is spent with a new participatory budgeting program called Build Hendersonville.

The city has set aside $25,000 for one or more capital improvement projects that residents can propose and help decide.

“This is the first time residents can propose a project idea, help develop it and see it funded through the budgeting process,” Deputy City Manager Brian Pahle said. “We want this to happen in our community, and this is important to us.”…
