DEA holding Drug Take Back Day this Saturday

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is encouraging Pennsylvanians to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day that’s taking place on Saturday, Oct. 25.

During the most recent Take Back Day in April, the DEA collected nearly 32,000 pounds of unused medication in Pennsylvania.

Residents can bring expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications to several locations across the state to be disposed of in a safe way.

Officials said that this is one of the most effective and simplest ways to prevent substance misuse and addiction.

“All too often, these drugs end up in the wrong hands, fueling addiction, overdoses and other avoidable tragedies,” said Sgt. Logan Brouse of the Pennsylvania State Police. “By safely and responsibly disposing of your prescription drugs through this program, you are cutting off the source of harm. We want families to recognize that safeguarding prescription drugs is just as important as locking the door to their homes.”…
