Spooktacular events haunt the High Plains this Halloween

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Local communities are conjuring a cauldron of Halloween fun, with events from trunk or treats to monster bashes, ready to delight all ages.

Halloween events for kids and families

Bubba’s 33’s First Annual Bark and Treat

  • Bubba’s 33, 2813 W. I-40, Amarillo.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 22, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Description of event:
  • Halloween costumes are encouraged for fur babies.
  • A Best in Show prize will be awarded.
  • Local veterinarians, groomers and pet stores will be on hand, giving out treats for fur babies.
  • Amarillo Welfare Management will attend with animals available for adoption.

Trail of 1000 Jack-O’-Lanterns

  • Amarillo Botanical Gardens, 1400 Streit Dr, Amarillo.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 22, to Saturday, Oct. 25, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Description of event:
  • The first annual event features 1,000 artist-carved pumpkins, ghostly gourds and fall decorations throughout the gardens.
  • Enjoy playful delights around every corner.
  • Carnival concessions, games for children, food trucks and photo opportunities will be available.

  • This brand-new spin on a community favorite marks the return of a hot air balloon launch in Amarillo.

  • Morning Launch: Hot air balloons will lift off beginning at 7 a.m.
  • Evening Glow: Over 20 balloons will light up the park in a stunning glow at 7 p.m.
  • Trick-or-treating from hot air balloons.

AC Hosts 23rd Annual Day of the Dead Art Show and Reception

  • The exhibition honors the traditional Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos, a colorful and heartfelt celebration of life and memory.
