Watchdog calls for audits after mayor’s wife’s nonprofit deemed ‘delinquent’ by state

(WBFF) — The leader of a taxpayer watchdog group is demanding audits for all non-profit organizations which receive public funds.

The move comes after ‘Bmore Empowered,’ a non-profit led by Hana Scott, the wife of Mayor Brandon Scott, received more than $100,000 in tax dollars despite being deemed ‘delinquent’ by Maryland’s Secretary of State.

“You have tax dollars going to a non-profit and they haven’t even kept up with their registration with the state,” David Williams, President of Taxpayers Protection Alliance, said. “Before any taxpayer money is given to a non-profit, there should be a cursory look to see if they’re at least registered with the state and they haven’t fallen off on their registration.”…
