FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Crews were called to a vacant school on Fort Wayne’s southeast side Wednesday morning where firefighters found a small fire burning.
The call came in just after 8 a.m. and the Fort Wayne Fire Department arrived at the former Village Woods Middle School located in the 2700 block of East Maple Grove about two minutes later.
According to a press release issued by the Fort Wayne Fire Department, when crews arrived they saw smoke coming from the building. Once inside, they found a small fire burning inside one of the entry doors that had been covered in plywood. They were able to quickly put the fire out and they ventilated the building to let the smoke out…
