A Fruitland Park woman popped breath mints in an apparent attempt to avoid arrest for driving under the influence after a traffic stop in Lady Lake.
An officer observed 36-year-old Hailey Lozano driving a gray Chevy SUV southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27 at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
The vehicle was in the left lane but struggled to stay there, going over the fog line and lane divider line several times. Seeing this, the officer tried to stop the vehicle near Hartsock Sawmill Road. It instead continued heading south until finally stopping near Temple Hill Road, the report said.
The officer explained the reason for the stop, to which Lozano said, “I was in a conversation, and I live right there.” Her eyes were bloodshot, watery and glassy as she spoke. She also smelled like alcohol, the report said…
