CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Applebee’s will soon return to Cranston, 12 News has learned.
Flynn Group, the nation’s largest Applebee’s franchisee, announced Tuesday that the restaurant will open back up at a brand new spot in Chapel View early next year.
The original Applebee’s, located within Garden City Center, has been closed ever since a fire tore through the restaurant back in December 2024. Investigators determined the fire was caused by a leaking gas line that ignited while workers were deep cleaning the kitchen overnight.

“Serving the Cranston community for over 35 years has been an incredible honor for us, so the loss of our previous location due to the fire was truly heartbreaking,” Flynn Group’s Eleanor Clancy said. “We’ve deeply missed being part of this neighborhood and are genuinely excited to bring Applebee’s back.”…
