Arlington Residents: Expect Emergency Response Drills at Six Flags and Surrounding Areas Next Week

Next week, Arlington police and fire departments will participate in the MetroX Regional Preparedness Exercise. More than 2,500 local, state, and federal representatives will join the event in North Central Texas. The exercise is scheduled for October 27-29, 2025. It will simulate terrorist attacks and mass casualty incidents at several locations in the region.

The MetroX exercise is designed to improve coordination, communication, and decision-making among agencies during emergencies. Participants include police, fire, EMS, hospitals, school districts, dispatch centers, emergency managers, and city officials. The event comes as the region prepares for large events, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Some training scenarios will take place at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. First responders will practice technical rescues, hazardous materials response, explosive ordnance disposal, and the use of unmanned aerial systems.
