ANKENY, Iowa — An Altoona husband and wife have been arrested for allegedly stealing Amazon packages they were supposed to deliver.
Brandon Helderman, 26, and Madison Helderman, 25, are each charged with one count of first-degree theft in the case. Sgt. Trevor McGraw of the Ankeny Police Department said they turned themselves in at the Polk County Jail on Wednesday morning.
Sgt. McGraw said the pair was employed by Amazon as Flex drivers, tasked with delivering packages using their own vehicles, when the thefts allegedly occurred between August 22nd and September 7th. The couple is accused of knowingly and intentionally picking up packages at an Ankeny distribution center that were intended to be delivered and keeping them. The total value of the items the Keldermans kept was $57,996.

A search warrant executed at the couple’s Altoona residence turned up many of the stolen items, which Sgt. McGraw said appeared to have been kept for personal use.
